Abstract

Cross-fertilization in Melilotus alba.

Abstract

The allelic pairs Cucu and Bb, controlling the content of o-hydroxycinnamic acid and β-glucosi-dase activity respectively, were used as genetic markers to study the frequency of cross fertilization. Cross fertilization averaged 58% over two years, based on estimates using the Cucu marker and 72% based on estimates using Bb.
