Abstract

Genetically improved Eucalypt seed from Australian pulpwood forests.

Abstract

Reviews recent studies indicating the possibilities of improving Eucalyptus regnans by selection for height growth, straightness of stem, branching habit, frost resistance and wood density, and proposes methods for applying the results of this research in the production, from seed orchards, of the large quantities of seed that will be required within 10 years for Eucalypt pulpwood plantations, at a cost little higher than that of seed from inferior sources.
