Insect pests of Pine plantations on the coastal dunes of Riga bay.
cf. F.A. 22 No. 2080.] Investigations in young stands (mainly Pinus sylvestris, but also P. mugo, P. banksiana, Birch, Alder, etc.) until canopy closure, revealed 56 species of insect pest. These are listed, with ecological notes relating particularly to the effect of the local climate and proximity to the sea. Among the most dangerous pests are Philopedon plagiatus, Magdalis frontalis, Pissodes validirostris, Microdiprion pallipes, Evetria spp., Heringia dodecella, Thecodiplosis brachyntera, and Aradus cinnamomeus.
