Abstract

New acaracides against mites attacking nursery plants.

Abstract

The mites discussed in this paper are: Brevipalpus inornatus attacking azaleas and the southern red mite, Paratetranychus ilicis and the two-spotted spider mite [Tetranychus bimaculatus[Tetranychus urticae]] attacking species of Ilex, Juniperus, Thuja and Buxus. The acaricides ovotran, aramite, geigy 338, dimite, chemite and EPN-300 applied by hydraulic sprayer or by mist blower usually gave good control of the mites for 5 or 6 weeks and appeared more suitable for spider mite control in the nursery than TEPP or parathion.
