Abstract

Forest plant succession following a severe disturbance on Mt. Usu in Hokkaido was studied. Plant succession by decurrent-growth species (e.g., Acer mono) and excurrent-growth species (e.g., Populus maximowiczii), and stand structure 8 yr and 14 yr after the volcanic eruption were assessed.
