Abstract

Growth ring widths of roots of windthrown oaks (Quercus robur, Q. petraea), beech (Fagus sylvatica), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and spruce (Picea abies) trees were measured, and data for the period since 1900 are discussed in relation to soil moisture and climatic data.
