The use of methyl bromide as a soil fumigant is reviewed with regard to the physical factors affecting its penetration and persistence in soil, its breakdown in different soils, the uptake by plants of the resulting bromide and its phytotoxic effects.

A table is given for distinguishing Cheyletiella parasitovorax (Megn.) and C. yasguri Smiley, and knowledge on the effects of Cheyletiella infestation in small animals (dogs, cats and rabbits), the life-cycle of the mites, epidemiology and treatment is reviewed from the literature.
