About
I have more than 11 years of experience as an agricultural professional and have worked for CABI since 2012. My work involves agricultural, strategic planning and operations management throughout Pakistan. I have also coordinated agricultural programs such as plant and pest services, rural agricultural development and agricultural research operations in support of research, extension and technical training. Moreover, I have diverse experience of field training and demonstration as an agricultural extension agent, subject matter specialist and report writer.
As a Project Manager, I supervised content development for the mNutrition project, a mobile phone-based messaging service that aimed to increase knowledge of nutrition and health within communities. I also helped to implement the Plantwise program in Sindh province through a network of crop clinics and agricultural extension services. I am now involved in PlantwisePlus Program as Provincial Team Manager.
I have also assisted in gathering the recorded data, planned and prepared the technical research reports, maintained farms, handled the use of chemical fertilizers and addressed plant health problems.
In addition, I have successfully completed the cluster-based feasibility and agriculture transformation studies for 33 different agricultural commodities for the Government of Pakistan, under the objective to transform agriculture from a supply-driven to demand-oriented sector. This will enable the value chain actor to meet the emerging demands for agriculture products and become competitive in the market and, in turn, boost agricultural export, reduce imports and create employment and income opportunities in rural areas.
Currently, I am working as a Master Trainer in newly launched project “Capacity building for improved potato production in Punjab, Pakistan.” I am also assisting the project manager of “Introduction of Certification Facilities for Quality Assurance & Creation of Market Linkages for Agriculture Interventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” in coordinating the project activities.
CABI centre: Pakistan
CABI’s centre in Pakistan coordinates our activities in Central and Western Asia. Small-scale farming here is widespread, employing a large percentage of the population in many areas. Agriculture contributes heavily towards the region’s economy and its development.

Improving Pakistan’s food value chains through certification and quality assurance
Despite sufficient availability of natural resources, in Khyber Pakhtunkwa, Pakistan, constraints are faced throughout the value chain. Growth opportunities provided by domestic and global agriculture markets can therefore not be met. The aim of this project is to help create stronger food value chains in Pakistan by introducing certification facilities, improved market linkages, and a move towards more innovative, technology-based agriculture that makes better use of the natural resources.
