Aquaculture development and the blue revolution.

This chapter looks at India's aquaculture sector and its Blue Revolution, which focuses on increasing production from aquaculture and other fisheries resources. The most significant technologies that have revolutionized freshwater fish farming are described, covering breeding, seed production, and grow-out farming technologies. Also presented is an overview of brackishwater aquaculture and mariculture. Genetic improvement programmes, the availability of feed ingredients and formulated feed, and disease surveillance and management are also briefly discussed.
