Diseases of the reproductive system.
In this chapter a review of the functions as well diseases (diagnosis and clinical features) affecting the reproductive system of cattle was presented. Highlight focused on diseases of the testes and accessory sex organs which includes hypoplasia, necrosis, degeneration, fibrosis, inflammation, neoplasia, diseases of the epididymis, seminal vesicle, external genitalia, penile abnormalities, penile haematoma, balanophosthitis, and penile neoplasia. Also highlighted are non-gravid female reproductive system which includes anomalies, segmental aplasia, uterus didelphys. Also included are the anatomical features of the normal ovary of Bos taurus and Bos indicus and diseases of the ovary, uterus, vagina, vulva, and cervix such as cysts and neoplasms. Other diseases of the reproductive system that were also presented includes: cotyledonary placentation, incidental findings on placental membranes, disturbances of pregnancy, abortion diseases, infectious abortions, viral abortions, bacterial abortions, mycotic abortions, protozoal abortions, fetal malformations, arthrogryposis, and schistosomus reflexus.
