Chapter 8 (Page no: 206)

Sustainability and corporate social responsibility for travel management.

This chapter addresses the range of impacts that the travel industry can have on economies, natural and built environments, and different societies and culture. In order to minimize any negative impacts, the concept of sustainability and its application to the travel industry is analysed. An integrated consideration of the environmental, economic, political and sociocultural aspects of sustainable travel development includes the principles of good practice in sustainable business management, travel and tourism planning, and the development of travel management strategies. The final part of the chapter introduces the reader to a range of good practices within corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable tourism.
