SNPs and their use in maize.

This chapter summarizes several years' worth of experience discovering and using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers for a variety of projects including genetic mapping, positional cloning, evaluation of genetic diversity and genetic association analysis. Rather than giving a comprehensive review of literature, it focuses on conclusions and advice that may be helpful to those embarking on a new project involving SNP markers.
