Abstract

The behaviour of a herd of German Simmental cattle, maintained as a wild herd in the Swabian Alps is described. The behaviour was similar to that of feral cattle.

Abstract

Feather pecking behaviour appeared to be copied in groups of laying hen chicks. Increased feather pecking rate coincided with a decrease in foraging behaviour, which suggests that feather pecking is a redirection of ground pecking and foraging behaviour.
