Abstract

This article discusses the disease vectors (mosquito and wild birds), host range, disease transmission, prevalence, genetic analysis and evolution of Usutu virus (USUV). The occurrence of USUV in common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) bats in Germany in 2013 is highlighted.
