Abstract

A moderate increase in semen collection frequency in turkeys led to a 26.9% increase in the amount of semen collected and a 3.3-3.9% increase in fertilizing ability. The provision of vitamin supplements to cocks increased semen quality and fertilizing ability.

Abstract

Selection of cocks for semen quality improved the fertilizing ability of their semen, and increased egg hatchability by 2.5 percentage units. The number of cocks required was 4-5 times less for AI than for natural mating.
