Abstract

This study investigated whether presynchronization with GnRH 6 days before initiation of the Ovsynch program improved reproductive outcomes in dairy cows. Additionally, postponement of initiation of the Ovsynch program for cows during the metestrus phase by 5 days was investigated to determine if...

Abstract

In view of the silent nature of estrus in buffalo, a noninvasive assay kit has long been felt necessary for easy and effective estrus detection. This study was designed to detect estrus in buffalo using a kit formulated in our laboratory based on pheromone compound. Group I: Urine samples collected ...

Abstract

Male giant pandas identify female sexual receptivity through the detection of olfactory cues in estrous urine. However, it is yet unknown which specific days of the female estrous cycle may provoke male sexual-social responses and a physiological readiness to mate. We hypothesized that female urine ...

Abstract

On the day of induced estrus, jugular vein blood samples were collected from healthy repeat breeder cattle (n=45) for the estimation of haemoglobin, glucose, cholesterol and total protein, followed by pregnancy diagnosis on day 45 post-insemination. There was no difference (p<0.05) in haemoglobin, plasma cholesterol and plasma total protein in animals showing weak, intermediate or intense estrus, however, plasma glucose was high (p<0.05) in animals exhibiting intense estrus compared to their counterparts exhibiting intermediate estrus. Between pregnant and non-pregnant counterparts, plasma total protein was high (p<0.05) on the day of induced estrus in the former, whereas other blood/plasma parameters were similar (p>0.05). In brief, plasma ...

Abstract

This study evaluated effects of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) on fertility of 679 crossbred (Bos taurus × Bos indicus) lactating grazing cows synchronized for fixed-time AI (FTAI). At a random day of the estrous cycle cows received an intravaginal progesterone (P4) implant, 2 mg estradiol...

Abstract

Important developments have occurred in the last two decades, since the advent of the Ovsynch protocol, on the understanding and use of synchronisation programmes for management of reproduction in dairy herds. This better understanding of oestrus cycle control associated with suboptimal...

Abstract

Endoscopy enables a rapid and non-traumatic examination of the vaginal cavity of female dogs. Its implementation requires specific equipment as well as knowledge about the species-specific vaginal anatomy and the procedure. Vaginoscopy is the diagnostic tool of choice for several vaginal conditions ...

Abstract

We examined the hypothesis that maternal nutrition and day of gestation would affect the concentrations of AAs and hexoses in bovine utero-placental fluids and maternal serum from days 16 to 50 of gestation. Forty-nine cross-bred Angus heifers were bred via artificial insemination and fed a control ...

Abstract

To evaluate the effects of a polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) supplement on reproductive parameters of suckled beef cows, two experiments were conducted. In Experiment (Exp.) 1, 60 primiparous cows were randomly assigned to one of two treatments: CTRL - 1.36 kg/day of corn gluten feed (CGF) and...
