Abstract

Ovulation was induced in mice by injection of 200 ng LHRH 8-12 h before the expected LH peak. Mice were inseminated 13 h (controls) or 24 h after LHRH treatment, and oocytes were collected. 50% of oocytes were penetrated within 1 h after AI in controls and within 3-4 h in mice inseminated 24 h...

Abstract

In studies with mouse and cattle embryos, the osmotic effect of additive solutions and glycerol solution as a cryoprotectant was studied. Cell volume change was also measured. It was concluded that addition of glycerol at 0°C to Dulbecco's phosphate buffered saline + 20% fetal calf serum culture...

Abstract

Female mice of the strains BALB/c and BALB/c × DBA/2N (CD2 F1) were used. Mice were weaned at 21 days of age and 2 control and 2 experimental groups were formed. Mice of the control groups were housed in groups of ≤4 (no ♂ present), and mice of the experimental groups in groups of 4 in the presence ...

Abstract

640 normal, good-quality mouse embryos were randomly assigned to 1 of the 8 factorial freezing treatments, combinations of 4 cryoprotective solutions (2.0 smallcap˜M glycerol + 0.5 smallcap˜M sucrose, 2.5 smallcap˜M glycerol + 0.5 smallcap˜M sucrose, 3.0 smallcap˜M glycerol + 0.5 smallcap˜M...

Abstract

Immature ♀ N:NIH(S), C57BL/6N and C3H/HeN mosaic- tobacco virus negative mice were treated intraperitoneally (ip) with 5 IU PMSG from 5 listed sources. Donors were given 10 IU HCG (ip) 48 h later and were mated with isogenic ♂♂. Embryos, collected in PB1 medium 68 h after HCG were evaluated for...

Abstract

Fertilized mouse eggs were incubated in vitro in oviducts from pregnant and prepubertal mice. Of 180 and 147 eggs incubated in the 2 types of oviducts, the number that were at the ≥4-cell stage after 48 h incubation was 139 and 111, and 86 and 67 had developed to the blastocyst stage.

Abstract

Endometrial cells were collected from mice on the 1st day of pregnancy, and incubated at 37°C. 32, 30, 36 and 51 embryos were collected at the 4-cell, 8-cell, morula and blastocyst stage resp., and incubated in the endometrial cell medium. For embryos at the 4 stages resp., the number released from ...

Abstract

Mice were killed 60 h after mating and 607 embryos were collected. 106 embryos at the 2- to 4-cell stage, 88 at the 8-cell stage and 262 morulae were incubated at 39°C. 15 of the 2- to 4-cell stage embryos and 136 morulae were transferred immediately to recipients. 26, 52 and 147 of the incubated...

Abstract

In this review, mainly of work on mice, 3 methods of deriving transgenic mice are considered: (1) direct injection of DNA into the pronucleus of the fertilized egg, (2) infection of the embryo with retrovirus, (3) formation of chimaeras between embryos and embryonic stem cell (ES) via aggregation...

Abstract

A method of rapid freezing of embryos in capillary tubes is described. The post-freezing survival rate of 14 cattle embryos was 71%. Seven surviving embryos were cultured in vitro, and 3 were transferred to recipients. Five of the 7 cultured embryos developed to the next stage, and 1 of the 3...
