Abstract

In 1962, in Romania, there were 4.5 million cattle, 13 million sheep, 5 million pigs and 1.1 million horses. Of the cattle, 36% were Simmental, 29% Swiss Brown, 15% Red, 11% Pinzgau and 9 % Romanian Steppe. 22 % of all cattle and 28 % of all sheep were artificially inseminated.
