Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of rainy and dry seasons on semen quality of bulls at Ungaran artificial insemination center. The semen was collected twice a week from one Ongole crossbred and one Simmental bulls, both at 5 years old, totaling 198 semen collections (99 of each bull). The results...

Abstract

Five hundred and ninety five frozen semen samples of crossbred Jersey bulls were subjected to frozen semen evaluation tests such as postthaw motility, post-thaw incubation survival, hypo-osmotic swelling and acrosome integrity to study the effects of non-genetic factors namely farms, ejaculate...

Abstract

Background: Semen extenders are used to create multiple insemination doses from a single ejaculate and contain buffers and nutrients suitable for storage of spermatozoa. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the survivability of boar sperm stored under room temperature in different extenders...

Abstract

Success of artificial insemination in bovine industry depends upon quality of frozen-thawed semen. Therefore, proper analysis of the post-thaw semen can provide insights into the fertilizing capacity of the cryopreserved semen. Frozen-thawed semen of 14 cross-bred and 12 pure-bred bulls was...

Abstract

The study reveals that colour of neat semen in all the breeds was white creamy and it was opaque when observed in collecting tubes. Statistical analysis of the data showed highly significant (P<0.01) differences in volume of pooled semen between breeds. Bikaneri rams had significantly higher volume of semen than Merino and Crossbreed rams, the volume of the later two were statistically similar. The gross motility of spermatozoa in neat pooled semen of Merino, Crossbreed and Bikaneri rams showed non significant difference between breeds. The sperm concentration (×109/ml) of neat pooled semen of Merino, crossbreed and Bikaneri rams was 3.45±0.08, 3.57±0.07 and 3.55±0.09...
