Abstract

The use of a yeast-based alternative protein source (NuPro) for shrimp feeding was studied using Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei raised under organically certified production practices. NuPro contains a well-balanced amino acid profile and a crude protein level of <50%. Four 1.8-hectare ponds were stocked with PL12-16 Pacific white shrimp at a rate of 180 000 PL/pond.
