PhD in Agricultural Economics

I have 16 years experience working in agriculture and food security in Africa. In addition to improving smallholder farmers’ livelihoods in rural areas, my emphasis has been on project management and coordination, soil fertility, gender mainstreaming, household surveys, economic analysis, monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment, market studies, agriculture extension and policy related studies at country and regional level. More recently, I have been engaged in capacity building of the National Agriculture scientists to use Android phones for data collection, use of Open Data Kits (ODK) and use of GIS as a tool in data collection in order to link the biophysical, social and spatial characteristics.

Prior to joining CABI in April 2016, I worked for the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist based in Washington DC – USA. I also worked for Technoserve Inc. as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, TSBF-CIAT as a Monitoring and Evaluation Scientist for four years and Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) as Senior Scientist for over 6 years.

I have done many consultancies for several organizations such as IFAD Kenya, IFAD Rwanda, Tegemeo, KIPPRA, IPAR, among others.

At CABI, I am the Plantwise Regional Coordinator for Africa. My role is to coordinate implementation of the programme in 12 countries in Africa.
