Introduction to animal and veterinary anatomy and physiology.

Book cover for Introduction to animal and veterinary anatomy and physiology.

Description

This 286-paged-book provides a comprehensive description of the anatomy and physiology of dogs and cats. The book builds on these foundations with detailed descriptions of exotic small species including birds, and domestic farm animals, including cows, sheep and pigs, as well as the horse. It contains detailed descriptions of the systematic anatomy and physiology of a wide range of animal species. It is divided into two sections: the first section describes the anatomy and physiology of the two most common species treated in small animal veterinary practice: the dog and cat. Following an introduction to cell biology, each body system is covered separately. The second section describes the anatomy and physiology of some of the less common species of pets, horses and the common species of farm animal. In some cases, there may be less detail than in Section 1. It is assumed that, having studied the anatomy and physiology of the dog and cat in detail, the student will be able to apply this knowledge to the descriptions of the exotic species and appreciate both the similarities and the differences between them.
