Abstract

Piper longum - a new host of two fungal pathogens.

Abstract

Diseased leaves of P. longum showing symptoms of leaf spot and rot were frequently collected from a herbal garden of Rajendra Agricultural University, in Pusa, Bihar, India, during May-June 2011. Microscopic examination of the tissue from infected leaves frequently revealed the association of fungi such as Botryodiplodia theobromae [Lasiodiplodia theobromae] and Fusarium pallidoroseum. Results are presented of cultural and morphological studies conducted to confirm the identity of these fungi.
