Information for Authors

We asked a number of new and existing CABI authors what you wanted from their dedicated page and this is it. Here you will find essential information on how to submit a book proposal, what the publication process is, and what sales and marketing activities you can expect before and after publication. We also have an introduction to our books editorial team, who will work with you to make sure your book is as successful as possible!

Please take the time to read our CABI Guide for Authors and Editors, and follow these guidelines as closely as possible. These provide advice to ensure that your book is produced in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, and with a minimum of errors.

Depending on your project, you may also find our CABI New Editions Guide and Figure Guidelines helpful.

We are actively developing CABI’s book programme. We currently publish textbooks, reference works, research monographs and practical titles for the professional reader, all aimed at an international audience:

-    For research monographs, reference works and practical titles, please use our standard Book Proposal form.

-    For a new edition of an existing CABI book, use the CABI New Edition Book Proposal form.

-    For a new student textbook proposal, use the CABI New Textbook Proposal form.

CABI also publishes an online reviews journal, CAB Reviews. We are currently accepting submissions for the journal.  If you are interested in publishing a review with us, please contact the editor of CAB Reviews, Dr David Hemming. 

We realize that royalties can be a confusing and complicated subject, so we have put together a list of FAQs to help make this confusing area a little easier.

At CABI we publish around 70 new books each year and we know that authors are vital to our success. As a small independent publisher, we are able to offer a personal service to our authors.
