Veterinary medicine is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, injury and disorders in animals. As well as improving animal health and welfare, veterinary science plays a role in ensuring food security, by ensuring an adequate supply of safe meat, milk and eggs.
Veterinary medicine also impacts on human health, by helping to control and prevent zoonotic diseases. Recently the concept of ‘One health’ has emphasised the connections between animal and human (and environmental) health, and the advantages of a synergistic approach.
CABI has been publishing veterinary information since 1930 and is recognised as an expert in this area. Our information resources, such as VetMed Resource, support ‘evidence based’ practice and cover all areas of veterinary medicine including companion animal medicine.
