Equine rhinopneumonitis is a collective term for any one of several contagious, clinical disease entities of equids that may occur as a result of infection by either of two closely related herpesviruses, equid herpesvirus-1(EHV-1) and equid herpesvirus-4 (EHV-4). EHV-1 and EHV-4 are endemic in very many domestic equine populations worldwide.
