Induction of rooting in leafy shoot cuttings of Cinnamomum zeylanicum Breyn. by IBA.

Abstract

Rooting trials were carried out using leafy shoot cuttings obtained from 3-month-old coppices from 6-yr-old trees of Cinnamomum zeylanicum in Orissa. IBA at 500, 1000 and 2000 ppm (applied by the quick dip method (solution) or dip smear method (powder)) was used for induction of rooting. Successful rooting (80%) was obtained with the 1000 ppm treatment. Untreated controls failed to root.
