Breeding technologies for tropical acacias. Proceedings of an international workshop held in Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia, 1-4 July 1991.

Abstract

Nineteen papers are presented from this workshop organised by various forest organizations from Sabah, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia and CSIRO. The workshop was organized to facilitate the exchange of research methods and results between scientists involved in ACIAR project 8630. The main aim of this project is to investigate the floral biology of Acacia mangium and A. auriculiformis, and the hybridization of the two species, and to evaluate the potential for hybrid seed production in orchards, mainly in Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia and Queensland. However, other Acacia spp. are also involved in the project. The papers are presented in 4 sections: Future directions (1); Introduction (4); Reproduction biology and breeding (10); and Vegetative propagation (4).
