Concepts of pest control - IPM and biological control.

Abstract

The first part of this paper describes and discusses the principles, components, implementation and outcomes of an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) programme. The second part describes the characteristics of, and approaches used in biological control programmes, and discusses their advantages and disadvantages. The conclusion to the paper outlines the use of the two methods in the control of Heteropsylla cubana, the Leucaena psyllid.
