Abstract

Derivation and dispersal of Acacia (Leguminosae), with particular reference to Australia, and the recognition of Senegalia and Racosperma.

Abstract

Based on morphology of seedlings, leaves, flowers and inflorescences, anatomy of the pod, occurrence of extra-floral nectaries, free amino acids of seeds, flavonoid compounds of heartwood, cyanogenic compounds, porate, colporate and extraporate pollen, and susceptibility to rusts, 3 genera are recognized (Acacia, Senegalia and Racosperma) corresponding to presently accepted subgenera of Acacia.
