Abstract

Growth of Hawaiian Giant Leucaena leucocephala var. K8 in Jammu.

Abstract

Seed from the University of Philippines was inoculated with Rhizobium and sown in Mar. 1979. One-month-old seedlings were planted in the field at a spacing of 1×1 m. Ht. and d.b.h. were measured after 9, 15 and 24 months. At the end of the trial, av. ht. was 7.2 m (range 6.0-8.5 m) and d.b.h. was 5.3 cm (range 3.6-7.7 cm). In a further trial with 3 spacings (1×1, 1.5×1.5 and 2×2 m) and 7 replications, ht. and d.b.h. of 15-month-old trees did not differ between treatments.
