Abstract

Larvea of Epinotia (Epiblema) tedella (Cl.) were reared in the laboratory in Czechoslovakia on four introduced conifers, and it was found that the number of leaves consumed/larva averaged 38.37 on Picea orientalis, 22.92 on P. pungens, 12.85 on Tsuga canadensis on 3.54 on P. omorika, as compared with 19.38 on the native P. abies (excelsa). The possibility of outbreaks occurring on the exotic species when introduced into forest stands is discussed, and it is concluded that P. omorika and T. canadensis are unsuitable for development of the Tortricid.
