The following streaming video files have been designed to offer users of the CAB Direct search platform helpful tips on using the interface. Each short, four to ten minute video, covers a specific aspect of searching, from the very basics through to advanced, multi-term searching and field searching. Each clip includes an audio comentary. One-to-one, live, online training sessions, using WebEx, can be arranged if required.

This two minute video shows the basics required for performing a simple keyword search. It also introduces the display screen and a full CABI database record.
The Advanced Search Screen allows you to build a complex search strategy on multiple search lines. This tutorial also introduces the idea of limiting search terms to specific data fields like the CABI Indexing terms, very useful for improving the quality or relevance of your search ressults.
Once you have run your initial search, this tutorial will show you how to refine the results with the addition of extra search terms.
This tutorial will show you how to build more complex, mulit-term searches and introduces the concept of Boolean Operators to specify the exact relationships between the search terms.
Once you have the search results you want, learn how to output the records in the most appropriate format.
The Search History Screen shows you a list of all the searches performed in the current search session. It also allows you to combine the results of different searches and save your search profile to re-run at a later date.
A personal MyCABDirect account allows users to permanently save searches, BookMark interesting records and set up auto-email Alerts and RSS Feeds. This tutorial shows you how to set up and use the MyCABDirect feature.
