India is the world’s second most populous country, with around 1.1 billion inhabitants living across 1.2 million square miles. In the last 20 years India has become a major economy with rapid growth in trade and a large, skilled workforce. Yet huge sections of the population – particularly those in rural communities – remain in poverty.
We have been working with India on these issues for many years – our first office was established here in 1948. Today we are located in the capital, at the National Agricultural Science Centre.
India is also one of CABI’s member countries and plays a key role in determining its strategy and direction.
