The new and improved VetMed Resource has now launched!

01 July 2009

CABI's VetMed Resource, the most comprehensive online veterinary information service, now has a new look - www.cabi.org/vetmedresource.

The authoritative content contained in VetMed Resource - which includes over 1.3 million records covering veterinary and animal health research from 1972 to the present - stays the same, but it has been made more discoverable due to a new design and improved navigation across the site.

  • One simple search across ALL content. Datasheets from the Animal Health and Production Compendia, and results from the abstract database, are now searchable alongside all the other content.
  • Tabbed results separate out the different types of content, making it easier for users to get to exactly what they need.
  • One click to the full text – direct from search results
  • Quick access to species and subject-specific information via an expandable browse tree
  • Enhanced searching via the new CAB Direct database platform

These new features and functionality allow users to delve down into the content to find exactly the piece of information they need. For example the new browse tree, along the left hand side of the site, can be expanded to search for all information on 'companion animals' or more specifically ‘dogs’, or even further into ‘distemper in dogs’, etc. The nature of the content in VetMed Resource makes it ideal for all veterinarians, including the general practitioner and those with a specialism, such as exotics, equines or dermatology.

“This newly-launched VetMed Resource has been designed after consulting with practicing veterinarians from around the world,” explains Robert Taylor, Editor of VetMed Resource. “They provided feedback on usability, design, and research needs, and the new look reflects the changes suggested.”

“VetMed Resource offers access to the same key veterinary research that most veterinarians would have used during their studies. No other resource out there offers the same breadth of content, which makes VetMed Resource the perfect support for continuing education.”

VetMed Resource is currently used by thousands of practitioners worldwide through their veterinary associations, and is also widely used in veterinary schools.
