Building capacity and skills

Our goal is to ensure that the people we work with and for have the skills, resources and understanding to be able to sustain initiatives, systems and approaches.

Global plant clinic
A plant clinic in action

A good example of this is the plant clinics we have initiated in a number of countries around the world. Our team find local partners and stakeholders to work with, set up and support the clinics, which are then self-sustaining. This approach has led to clinics being successfully established in around 18 countries.

One of the most important and exciting things about the clinics is that they operate as part of a network and they build on local capacity, linking people together to work more effectively.

Our ability to combine training and facilitation skills with having a strong, culturally-sensitive local presence and working directly with the rural poor is one of the things that really sets us apart from other development organizations.
