CAB Abstracts to include full text
Media release
27 October 2008
From 1 January 2009 CABI's life sciences bibliographic database, CAB Abstracts, will include full text content that was previously available only through a separate subscription.
The full text inclusion means that over 36,000 journal articles, reports and conference papers will be available to anyone with a CAB Abstracts subscription.
"We have decided to include full text in response to customer demand for easier and faster access to information when using CAB Abstracts," said Janet Halsall, Database Manager.
CABI's in-house experts have specially selected the full text content that is indexed and scanned to make it easily accessible to researchers.
"This newly combined product provides access to important, hard-to-find research that will give users a more complete picture," said Janet Halsall.
"Just because an article isn't available from the major aggregators doesn't mean it won't be essential to a researcher's progress. We are aware that 'content is king' and it is important that researchers not only have access to the right data but are also able to access it instantly.
"In addition to the 200 journals we regularly cover, our editors are actively identifying and acquiring new full-text content to add to the database, and we anticipate adding more than 12,000 new full-text items during 2009."
CAB Abstracts is a comprehensive bibliographic, abstracting and indexing database in the applied life sciences. Covering over 150 countries, and over 50 languages, it gives researchers access to an abundance of information often not available from other databases.
The subject coverage is extensive, including all aspects of agriculture, forestry, human nutrition, veterinary medicine and the environment.
