The CABI Microbial Identification Service provides a worldwide, high-quality and confidential service for the identification of filamentous fungi, yeasts and bacteria. We serve clients from a range of industries that include the pharmaceutical, food and manufacturing sectors, as well as research organisations working in agriculture, horticulture, quarantine, biodiversity assessment and biological control.

What we do
We have the in-house capability to definitively identify fungi (moulds and yeasts) and bacteria that contaminate laboratories, products and manufacturing processes, cause plant disease or environmental problems.

Please note – we accept pure cultures of fungi (including mould and yeasts), and bacteria grown on a firm agar medium. These should be mite-free (we can advise if this is a problem) and from sources unlikely to contain organisms pathogenic to man. We also accept dried specimens of fungi.
