Home artificial nutrition in Europe.

This chapter reviews the history of home parenteral nutrition (HPN) use in Europe. It also presents published European data on the common underlying diseases and clinical condition requiring HPN, and the incidence of HPN-related complications. Brief discussions on the rehabilitation status and quality of care received by HPN patients, and on the status of legislation and funding for HPN in Europe are provided.
