Chapter 7 (Page no: 106)

Patenting of plant-made recombinant pharmaceuticals and access in the developing world.

This chapter focuses on importance of patents in the production of medicines. The benefits of patent licensing policy in providing greater access to medical innovations and providing considerable benefits to the institution are discussed. The dominance of the public sector in the patenting of plant-made recombinant pharmaceuticals and in the dissemination of any products generated using this technology to the developing world on preferential terms is also highlighted.
