New and Improved CAB Direct
Animal Science Database incorporates the new CAB Direct search interface, with improved functionality and useability.
New features include:
-
ability to set up email alerts and RSS feeds
-
capability to view full text from search results page
-
suggestions for spelling variations
-
faceted searching to filter results
Searching
There are some differences compared with the previous version of CAB Direct - for example, search phrases and 2-word terms must be surrounded by double quotes as in the example "bovine mastitis". When limiting searches to particular fields, the field is now placed before the search term rather than after: e.g to search for cattle within the organism descriptors, use od:cattle.
For some handy tips on searching the Animal Science Database, please consult the following database guides. Also, see below for guidance on making the best use of keyword search fields and CABICODES.

Search Terms
You can use the keyword search fields to help pull out the records most relevant to your research. Terms in these fields have been entered by subject specialists and indicate a useful paper relating to that term. Terms can be found in the CAB Thesaurus: these are selected to cover key concepts and avoid duplication.
Enzyme names (from the EC nomenclature list) and Latin species names for plants (and common names for plants ) and common names (in plural) for animals are also used.
