Abstract
Wheat cv. Mexi-Pak-65 was given 0, 20, 40, 80, 120 or 160 kg K2O as potassium sulphate/ha applied before sowing. Grain yield, grain protein content and protein production/unit area were increased with K application. Highest grain yield of 3.38 t/ha was obtained at 160 kg K2O/ha while highest protein content of 10.74% was obtained at 40 kg K2O/ha. The increased grain yield was positively correlated with grain protein content. K2O application increased the lysine, leucine, methionine and tryptophan contents of the grain. 80 kg K2O/ha was the opt. dose for good economic returns.
