The new, enhanced version of CABI’s Crop Protection Compendium (CPC) has been launched on a completely revised platform with the introduction of new content and features...
|
The CPC is the world’s most comprehensive resource for crop protection information and this development means that the site can now be updated in real time. Key added features include over 400 updated and new datasheets, over 50,000 extra bibliographic records from the most recent literature and around 10,000 full text articles from journals and conferences. In addition, there are links to a vast resource of carefully selected content on the web, access to well-categorized library documents and a powerful new search engine.
This encyclopaedic, mixed-media tool collates science-based knowledge from experts all over the world. It comprises wide-ranging and detailed information on over 3,500 pests, diseases, weeds, natural enemies, host crops and the countries in which they occur, with basic data on a further 27,000. Compilation of the CPC has involved many years of work with funding assistance provided by international consortium members, including government departments, companies and Non-Governmental Organisations.
Shaun Hobbs, Global Director, Content Development at CABI explained “We have been working with our customers and consortia members to ensure that this new development is an appropriate evolutionary step for the Crop Protection Compendium to help in their work of controlling pests and diseases. Their top priorities were for better access to the encyclopaedic species information in the datasheets along with an ability to update data regularly. The new platform allows us to deliver these improvements in a very user-friendly manner.”
