This book comprises 7 chapters discussing phytobacteriology. Chapter 1 outlines the history and science of bacteriology Chapter 2 explains the characterization, identification and naming of bacteria. Chapter 3 explains how bacteria cause disease and how plants react to them. Chapter 4 discusses the epidemiology of bacterial diseases. The economic importance of bacterial diseases and the strategies for controlling these and reducing crop losses are discussed in chapters 5 and 6.
